So try this: $str = 'var pass1 = "1234567890";' $newValue = 'foobar' $out = StringRegExpReplace($str, '(?<=")([^"]*)(?=")', $newValue) ConsoleWrite($out & @LF) This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). jchd
Let's go! That breaks down simply. $str = 'var pass1 = "1234567890";' pattern = (?x) (?<= " ) ( [ ^ " ] * ) (?= " ) the (?x) is the "free-spacing" option, allowing unsignificant spaces in the pattern to improve readability (?<= is a look-behind assertion: forces match to what's next " ah! we force a match to a double-quote before the rest of the pattern. Assertions don't capture anything. ) end of assertion group ( start of capturing group [^ "] negated character class: match any char not = a double-quote * zero or more times ) end of capturing group (?= start of a look-ahead assertion: we need that to catch malformed input string missing a final " for instance " require a double-quote after what has been captured ) end of assertion group You're welcome !!!
