Kidney
ok so i have made a few AutoIt scripts before i have tried my hand at making a GUI but i cant seem to ever get the "Start" and "Stop" buttons to actually work. i have been trying to do simple tasks like making a count down timer that will take the users input (any number) and display the time given and -1 every second. BUT, my "Stop" button doesnt take effect until it gets through the Do/While statement. so, i have seen a couple scripts with these hotkey functions and i was wondering if that is an "any time" function. like if i put 60 into my counter, and i wanna reset it, will the function hotkey be able to interrupt the script?? if so, where would u guys suggest i go to read up and view examples on how to setup functions in my scripts?? Thx guys, Jon S. Edited July 9, 2011 by Kidney

Moderators Melba23 Posted July 9, 2011 Moderators Share Posted July 9, 2011 Kidney,Welcome to the AutoIt forum. You are the latest (but you will certainly not be the last) in a very, very long line of people asking about this! AutoIt does not interrupt running functions except in certain circumstances. I wrote a tutorial in the Wiki to explain how to do it - take a look and see if it helps. The tutorial covers several ways to interrupt a function, but your guess about HotKeys is spot on and if you just read the parts about HotKeys you will see how to use them to do what you want. If it all gets too complicated, then post your script and we will see how we can incorporate a HotKey into it for you.
