DPTR Posted July 11, 2011 Share Posted July 11, 2011 Hey ya'll It's been a long time since I've posted here but I've been lurking for a while. I'm currently working on a little inventory program that would be used for placing orders and the like. What I'm trying to do is have a button with a product name (that is based off a value in an INI so it's customizable for multiple applications)and have a button next to it that keeps track of how many times the product button has been pressed. Below is a quick and dirty example of what I've tried. What happens is when the button is pressed, the value is updated in the INI, but the button's text (which references the INI) doesn't update. If you close the program and re-open it, the button is displaying the correct number. I'd like to know how to get this button to update it's text immediately. I've done a good amount of searching on the forums, and in the help file and thought that the GUICtrlSetData would work - but has no effect. I'm sure I'm missing something here - any help would be appreciated. Also is an example INI file that will be needed to run the example ( needs to be saved as buttonconfig.INI ). #include <ButtonConstants.au3> #include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> #include <WindowsConstants.au3> $buttontext1 = IniRead("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext1", "No INI file found!") $buttontext2 = IniRead("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", "No INI file found!") #Region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form= $Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 600, 146, 192, 124) $Button1 = GUICtrlCreateButton($buttontext1, 64, 32, 193, 65) $Button2 = GUICtrlCreateButton($buttontext2, 320, 32, 193, 65) GUISetState(@SW_SHOW) #EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ### While 1 $nMsg = GUIGetMsg() Switch $nMsg Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Exit Case $Button1 IniWrite("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", $buttontext2 + 1) GUICtrlSetData($Button2, $buttontext2) Case $Button2 IniWrite("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", $buttontext2 - 1) GUICtrlSetData($Button2, $buttontext2) EndSwitch WEnd [Buttons] buttontext1=Product Name buttontext2=0 Thanks for your help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BrewManNH Posted July 11, 2011 Share Posted July 11, 2011 Here's one way of doing it:#include <ButtonConstants.au3> #include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> #include <WindowsConstants.au3> $buttontext1 = IniRead("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext1", "No INI file found!") $buttontext2 = IniRead("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", "No INI file found!") #Region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form= $Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 600, 146, 192, 124) $Button1 = GUICtrlCreateButton($buttontext1, 64, 32, 193, 65) $Button2 = GUICtrlCreateButton($buttontext2, 320, 32, 193, 65) GUISetState(@SW_SHOW) #EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ### While 1 $nMsg = GUIGetMsg() Switch $nMsg Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Exit Case $Button1 IniWrite("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", $buttontext2 + 1) $buttontext2 = IniRead("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", "") GUICtrlSetData($Button2, $buttontext2) Case $Button2 IniWrite("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", $buttontext2 - 1) $buttontext2 = IniRead("buttonconfig.INI", "Buttons", "buttontext2", "") GUICtrlSetData($Button2, $buttontext2) EndSwitch WEndIt reads the value back into the variable $buttontext2 and then sets the button text. Or you could just have it update the value of $buttontext2 directly by doing this $buttontext2 += 1 instead of the iniread.
