How to start/stop a function?

I have this code:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

GUICreate("Test GUI",400,200)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
$StartBtn = GUICtrlCreateButton("START",100,170,100,20)
$StopBtn = GUICtrlCreateButton("STOP",220,170,100,20)

While 1
  $msg = GUIGetMsg()
  Select
  Case $msg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
   ExitLoop
  Case $msg = $StartBtn

  Case $msg = $StopBtn

  EndSelect
WEnd
GUIDelete()

Func Script()
    While 1
    ....
    ...
    WEnd
EndFunc

What I'd like to do is to start and stop the function Script() when I press the interface buttons.

The problem is that the function has it's own endless cycle that checkes something on the screen every few sec and puts data into a file.

How to call this function so it won't pause the main script?

tempo,

I suggest reading the Interrupting a running function tutorial in the Wiki. Please ask if you have any questions once you have read it. :graduated:

While $Toggle is True the loop will continue, when False it will exit While...WEnd in Script Function.

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
Opt("GUIOnEventMode", 1)
GUICreate("Test GUI", 400, 200)
GUISetOnEvent($GUI_EVENT_CLOSE, "_Exit")
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
$StartStop = GUICtrlCreateButton("START", 100, 170, 100, 20)
GUICtrlSetOnEvent(-1, "Toggle")
$Toggle = False
While 1
Sleep(10)
WEnd
Func Script()
While $Toggle
  Sleep(10)
WEnd
EndFunc   ;==>Script
Func Toggle()
$Toggle = Not $Toggle
If $Toggle Then
  GUICtrlSetData($StartStop, "STOP")
Else
  GUICtrlSetData($StartStop, "START")
EndIf
EndFunc   ;==>Toggle
Func _Exit()
GUIDelete()
Exit
EndFunc   ;==>_Exit

autoit tags looks horrible.......
