Is it possible to insert text in the system tray or the toolbar?

Hi,

Something like the time block on the right of the system tray?

I do not find the way to do that. The purpose is to display one stock quote. I already do it with a traytip but it would be much more elegant inside the system tray or the toolbar.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Alain

AlainB,

I found this via Google. Should be easy to code using RegWrite, but use it at your own risk! :graduated:

Thanks Melba23. Usefull post, as usual.

It is working nicely for my purpose. The code below is not perfect. Anybody using it is using it at his own risk.

#include <Date.au3>
#include <INet.au3>
OnAutoItExitRegister("_OnExit")
Global $Symb="ebay",$a, $Begin = TimerInit(), $Dif, $Data, $sTime="HH:mm:ss:tt"
_GetData()
_PostIt()
While 1
sleep(10)
$Dif = TimerDiff($Begin)
if $Dif > 5000 Then
  _GetData()
  _PostIt()
  $Begin = TimerInit()
EndIf
WEnd
Func _GetData()
$Data =_INetGetSource("http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=" & $Symb & "&f=sl1")
$a= StringSplit ( $Data, ","  )
$a[1]=StringLeft ($a[1], StringLen ( $a[1] )-1 )
$a[1]=StringRight ($a[1], StringLen ( $a[1] )-1 )
$a[2]=StringLeft ($a[2], StringLen ( $a[2] )-2 )
$Data=" " & $a[1] & " $" & $a[2]
EndFunc ;_GetData()
Func _PostIt()
RegWrite("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International","s1159","REG_SZ",$Data)
RegWrite("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International","s2359","REG_SZ",$Data)
RegWrite("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International","sTimeFormat","REG_SZ", $sTime)
_SetTime(@hour,@min)
EndFunc ;_PostIt()
Func _OnExit()
$Data = "                       ";$Data = ""               ; to restore to the probable original
$sTime = "HH:mm:ss:tt"          ;$sTime = "HH:mm:ss"      ; same
_PostIt()
EndFunc ;_OnExit()
