Obfuscator open Log file problem

I have used AutoIT for years but am attempting to use obfuscator for the first time and am getting the error

Can't open file C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoIt3\SciTE\Obfuscator\\Obfuscator.Log

I am running on WIndows 7 64 bit. Installed AutoIT will all the default options. Upgraded to the latest SciTE to see if it made a difference and it did not. Have inspected all the obvious properties files to see if there is a string there that I could change and could not find anything.

Does the file exist? Can you see the file in the Obfuscator folder? What are you trying to open Obfuscator with? Notepad , Notepad2?

check the config files again. There is an obvious mistake in that path

Yes I saw the and have rechecked all the config files searching for obfuscator and there are no configuration parameters that I can find. I guess I will have to take the time honored route of uninstall reinstall - which I will do when I get a few minutes out from my current development.

Dont think that the backslashes are the issue.

Are you sure that user credentials you use have write access to the file?

How are you running obfuscator?

Any scite output console output to share?

  • 6 months later...

I went away and did other things for a while and one day came back here to see if this was still an issue even though I had updated to the latest AutoIT version. Yes it was a permissions issue. Obfuscator was installed under AutoIT in Program Files (x86)AutoIT.......... and consequently was set to read only for the current user. I changed the permissions on the obfuscator folder to full control for the current user and Obfuscator worked just fine. Thanks

I am having the same issue, but do not have the luxury of changing the permissions on any of the folders at this point.  Is there a way the obfuscator could be configured to create its files in a user-accessible folder?

Thanks,

Larry

Let me turn that around, why not use directories you have the needed rights to run the program?
