Single user licence

Hi,

I want to allow only one user to use my software on a LAN (sort of single user licence). So as soon as a second copy of the exe is run on the local network the second exe gives an error message.

How do I go about it?

Please give me some suggestions.

Thanks and regards,

Ajit

One way I thought of might be through some TCP functions. When you start your script, it could send data to each computer on the network, & then the running script could respond. In your main function you would have to listen for the data & respond appropriately.

Maybe a job for a named pipe?

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I think MailSlot is an easy option.

As for @jhcd's suggestion, I have no idea how to go about named pipes. There is so little on the forum about them. Nothing much in the help file either.

Thanks very much

Regards,

Ajit

Yeah, it's an orphan topic as for now.

Mailslots can probably help you for your needs.
