Need help with checking for color change of a button

Good morning everyone,

AutoIT newb here.

I am using AutoIT V3.

And it has been a lot of fun.

I LIKE it.

Here's the deal.

I am testing an application via an AutoIT script.

What I am doing:

I navigate to a location and left click on a button.

At that point, the button turns from green to grey.

And the application goes to server and retrieves data.

I wait "sleep (20000)" for 20 seconds for the data to be retrieved (the button turns green once again).

Then I continue with my script.

And this works fine for the most part

What I want to do:

Sometimes however, the network is slow and the 20 second wait time is not enough.

So, I thought it would be nice if I could try and replace the "sleep" statement with a condition based on the button color.

Instead of waiting for 20 seconds, I want my Auto IT script to do nothing, until the button turns green again.

At which point, I want the script to continue on its merry way.

I can’t for the life of me, figure out how to "do" such a thing.

If I haven’t confused the heck out of everyone ……..

Has anyone done such a thing before ?

I sure would be grateful for any suggestions.

Welcome to the AutoIt forum.

You need the PixelGetColor function in a loop to "read" the colour of the button. Take a look at the Help file and come back if you get stuck.

Can you confirm that it's a button control? Run Autoit Window Info Tool and drag the cross hair over the button.

If it's a button control I guess it gets deactivated by the application and activated again when the application has finished processing.

So you just need to get the state of the button and wait till it changes to active again.

Who knows, maybe getting the state of the button can work for me. (I'm new to this and didn't realize I could "do" such a things.)

(I want to "learn" how to do both. Cuz I think this is kind of fun.)

To test your application for the enabled Button use:
