Problem with StringRegExp for yyyy-mm-dd

Hello everyone,

I have the following line of code

Local $ymdMatches = StringRegExp($dtPortion, "(?:(\d{1,4})?(?:[/-]))?(0[1-9]|1[012]|[2-9])(?:[/-])(0[1-9]|[12][0-9]?|3[01]?|[4-9])", 1)

which is supposed to allow the entry of dates in yyyy-mm-dd or yyyy/mm/dd format (the year is optional). It seems to be working correctly in all cases except when dd is 30 or 31. In those cases it always captures "3" instead of the 2-digit value.

e.g. 2011/12/30 captures "2011", "12" and "3"

This is odd for two reasons:

The section to capture "3", "30" or "31" (3[01]?) is identical in format to the section that captures "1", "2", "10"-"29" ([12][0-9]?) which works perfectly. I have even tried changing the code to [3][01]? and other variants with no success.

This regex expression works in any other evaluator I try (web-based, .NET, utility programs). It only fails in AutoIt.

Does anyone have an idea, a suggestion, a hex or incantation, perhaps an ointment?

While the pattern seems to work (yes it correctly returns 30 or 31 as dd), it suffers a number of issues, as code below shows.

I take it that you are willing to accept single non-zero digit month or day. If not, remove the two question marks after o in month and day. I hope the proposed pattern matches your requirements while enforcing strict conditions. (Year range is still not dealt with.)
