Quinch
Quick question - is there a way to have a script return a preset value if a function calls an invalid array subscript {for example, if array $x is defined as range of three values, but something calls $x[7]}, rather than crashing outright? I know I can get around it with ifs and ubounds, but I'm wondering if there's a tidier way to catch those sorts of errors, especially if I'm not around to see when it does. {side question - is there a way to timestamp when a script ends, whether normally or because of a critical error?}
BrewManNH
You would have to make sure your function checks for values that are out of bounds for the array you're referencing. As far as I know there's no other way. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day.
