shornw
MsgBox(0, "You want", "AutoIT Function" & $answer) Hi I have trolled through the help files (and searched contents and forum) to no avail, so I now turn to the wealth of knowledge here. is there any function within AutoIT allowing me to add a button in a window, enabling the user to click and browse to a file, and that file can then be used as a variable. Apologies if I've missed something (I don't think I have) Thanks in advance Eagles may soar high but weasels dont get sucked into jet engines
water
Try "FileOpenDialog". Related functions often can be found in the helpfile - section "Related". Moderators Melba23 Posted January 17, 2012 Moderators Share Posted January 17, 2012 shornw,You add the button into the GUI as normal and then get it to run FileOpenDialog - this returns a filename. Here is a simple example: #include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> $hGUI = GUICreate("Test", 500, 500) $hButton = GUICtrlCreateButton("Browse", 10, 10, 80, 30) GUISetState() While 1 Switch GUIGetMsg() Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Exit Case $hButton $sFileName = FileOpenDialog("Choose a file", @ScriptDir, "All (*.*)" ) If $sFileName Then MsgBox(0, "File Name" , $sFileName) Else MsgBox(0, "Error", "No file chosen") EndIf EndSwitch WEndM23 Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind Open spoiler to see my UDFs: Spoiler ArrayMultiColSort ---- Sort arrays on multiple columnsChooseFileFolder ---- Single and multiple selections from specified path treeview listingDate_Time_Convert -- Easily convert date/time formats, including the language usedExtMsgBox --------- A highly customisable replacement for MsgBoxGUIExtender -------- Extend and retract multiple sections within a GUIGUIFrame ---------- Subdivide GUIs into many adjustable framesGUIListViewEx ------- Insert, delete, move, drag, sort, edit and colour ListView itemsGUITreeViewEx ------ Check/clear parent and child checkboxes in a TreeViewMarquee ----------- Scrolling tickertape GUIsNoFocusLines ------- Remove the dotted focus lines from buttons, sliders, radios and checkboxesNotify ------------- Small notifications on the edge of the displayScrollbars ----------Automatically sized scrollbars with a single commandStringSize ---------- Automatically size controls to fit textToast -------------- Small GUIs which pop out of the notification area
