Turning ON/OFF webcam LED

Hello autoit coders :)

I've been looking for some descriptions about AVICAP32 but I haven't found anything interesting for me..

What I need to do is:

- something like a button or just function to turn ON/OFF LED next to webcam.

I can't find it in webcam constants in autoit script. I've been using Webcam UDF from this forum.

Regards,

cagiva.

ohh.. im sorry to hear that Posted Image

but anyway thanks Posted Image

the LED is used to signal the webcam is running, so it cannot be used by malware to spy on you unnoticed. If you could manually turn the LED off, it would be against its purpose, right? :)

Apart from being creepy ... yah ... my webcam doesn't have that LED on it at all, so I keep the "privacy shade" on it pulled down all the time unless I'm using it. In fact ... I should probably just unplug it... haven't used the damn thing in years.

You can't.

Oh ... yes ... you can ... you just don't have the proper tools. Granted, **I** don't know how, but I'm sure the men in black do.

Lucky for you... I don't have an LED. I also don't have a privacy shade, and you know what is a real kick in the b***s? It's built into my monitor. My Laptop's monitor, so I cannot de-tach it. It's alright though, I installed a program which changes the default webcam driver. A driver which requires a program to be running, sending an output to the driver, from the actual webcam. Otherwise, I would have a dirty great big hole in my monitor. :)

i'd be more concerned that the op is trying to turn off the camera led on a remote system. of course anyone whos camera can be hacked into doesn't have the system locked down tightly enough and probably deserves being eyeballed by willie the wanker.

Raik,

Theory is all well and good, but in reality we do not want to discuss how this might be done here - thread locked. :naughty:
