pixel searching

I would check the image pixels one horizontal line at a time from left to right, starting with the top line. I would then compare sequential lline records to measure by how many positions the first and last dark pixels vary from line to line. I would then set a triggering variation size to record the points. That should give you the spots you marked. Does that make any sense?

nice pic of an handheld emulator. Am I correct? Looks like a blackberry.

Ah ha! no

Its actually a stack of poker chips. I was trying to write an app that would count the chips just from the picture. The idea was to turn the image into a shilloute, by using the background colour with a wide range (to produce the pic you see above).

Then use the known geometry of the chips to work out how many are there. Once we have the extreme width in pixels, we cant work out what the depth of a chip is in pixels, working out the peak point (the high point on the image) we can then work out chip angle, and then count the chips.

Unfortunately I never got it off the ground, I could never program it to see the corners. :-(

civilcalc,

I do hope these chips were not part of some form of poker game - you have read our Forum Rules I trust? ;)
