PRM,

I want to copy default username and password

Just to be clear - are you:

- 1. Trying to paste text into some form of log-in dialog.

- 2. Trying to copy the username and password that has already been entered into the dialog.

Hi Melba,

for e.g. during installation if some software asks to enter email id, first name and last name,

if user is going to install and uninstall it frequently then i want to automate that process.

So while auto installation, it should take email id,first name and last name automatically may

be frome some file or some different way.

PRM,

In that case why not ask for the details in a dialog you create before starting the installation - it is easier to read the inputs and save them to a file when it is your own controls you are using. Then you can automate the initial and any subsequent install using that data.

But if the software to be automate is thirdy party software then how can i ask to copy in the GUI.

I want email id,first name and last name to be copied when that screen occurs in installation process.

How that can be done?

PRM,

Did you understand what I posted above?

If you are looking to ease the task of a user who wants to install/uninstall the software multiple times, than just gather the user information once at the very beginning in a dialog of your own making - that makes it easy to read the controls and save the data to a file. You can then automate the install of the software using that data when the relevant installation dialog appears - read the data from the file and enter it into the relevant fields in the dialog.

I want email id,first name and last name to be copied when that screen occurs in installation process

Why are you so insistent that you must copy the data as it is entered into the app install dialog itself? :bye:

Hi Melba23,

If software installation takes 20 min to install and there are 10 steps

in overall istallation process.

Now if 8th step ask for emaild id,first name and last name,

while auto installation i always need that user should enter that info as and when this window appeares

i(in auto installation) may sleep for a minute so that in 1 minute user can enter required information.

Here user needs to be attentive he can not do other work.

I want to make auto installation process such a way that user just double clicks my exe

and perform other work without any botheration.

Now to achieve this i want a way that should copy or put user info in that GUI automatically(that will be provided by user initially).

But how to copy this information in the GUI of thirdy party software, this is what i am asking.

ClipPut() method not working.

PRM,

I think we have a language problem here. You use the word "copy" - but in fact I believe you are asking how to "paste" the information into the correct fields. :bye:

The answer is to use the AutoIt Window Info tool (.....\AutoIt3\Au3Info.exe) to get some information on the dialog and then use ControlSend or ControlSetText to enter the data you gathered earlier and saved into a file. If the dialog is particularly stubborn then you may have to fall back on Send, but then your user will not be able to "perform other work without any botheration".

PRM,

Are you saying that the tool does not provide any info?

PRM,

Then you may be forced to use Send to enter the text and move between the various fields - but this will require the dialog to take focus and your user will not be able to do other things at the same time. :bye:

What app are you are trying to automate - there may be other options we can suggest if we know what we are dealing with.
