System Info

I need a way to easily obtain specific system info using AutoIt without opening any windows or running any GUI based applications.

I need to be able to get:

  • CPU Brand (AMD/ARM/Intel), CPU Name, and Clock Speed (in GHz)
  • GPU Brand (AMD/ARM/Intel), GPU Name, Clock Speed (in GHz), and VRAM Amount (in MB)
  • RAM Type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3)
AutoIt doesn't have any easy way to obtain this information. Now here's the hard part: I need to be able to get all this information without administrative privileges.

Any input/suggestions are appreciated.

My UDFs are generally for me. If they aren't updated for a while, it means I'm not using them myself. As soon as I start using them again, they'll get updated.

$reg_cpunamestring= regread("HKLMHARDWAREDESCRIPTIONSystemCentralProcessor0", "processornamestring")

returns "AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+" for me.

I know it's not everything you asked for, but it's what I know at the moment.

You can get regsistry information in a user account, so Xandy's code works.

You may have a problem with getting the GPU info. I looked up mine and it was listed here:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlClass{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}0000]

I have a feeling that every video card will have a different class. You may have to write code that reads all classes and search the entries for major name brands (intel, amd, trident, voodoo, etc). Once you find a match, you could read registry entries from that class.

So far, I don't know how to find the memory type.

#include <ByteMe.au3>

Have you tried running the tool? It will generate the WMI code needed to find out most, if not all, of that information for you. You can just incorporate the parts of the generated script into your script that get this information.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
