Moderators Melba23 Posted February 27, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 27, 2012 Thinkpad,Loo at the delimiters in the return from _NowDate - not valid for use in a filename. You need to change them - StringReplace will do the job:#include <Date.au3> $sDate_1 = _NowDate() $sDate_2 = StringReplace(_NowDate(), "/", "-") MsgBox(0, "Comparison", $sDate_1 & @CRLF & $sDate_2)Or you could just use the @YEAR, @MON, @MDAY, @HOUR, @MIN, @SEC macros instead. BrewManNH
_NowDate returns the date in a format that probably isn't useful for a file name, on my US computer it returns "2/27/2012" those forward slashes are going to be seen as folder names. You'd probably want to use the date/time macros (@MON, @MDAY, @YEAR, @HOUR, @MIN, @SEC) and format it correctly for a file name. saywell
Are you going to rename it again, perhaps tomorrow? If so you need to have a plan as to how you will identify today's file tomorrow. A quick and dirty way would be to write its name in an ini file. The when you next run the program it can read the previous filename and allow you to rename it to the current date. If it's a blank logfile and you rename it to a new name for use each day, and leave the earlier ones in place, this won't be necessary - though you might want to add some functionality to delete log files older than a certain age, as good housekeeping.
