Default parameters not working?

Things like this used to work before if I'm correct, for some reason it's not passing the default parameter to the message box, what's going on?

_TEST("test",'')
Func _TEST($Needed,$HKType = 'test2')
     MsgBox(0,$Needed,$HKType)
EndFunc

Basically I remember that entering a blank string with no characters would force my function to default onto the default value, that's not happening and it's passing the empty string. or am I remembering things incorrectly and this has always been the behavior?

Really? I don't remember it ever doing that but I could be wrong.

EDIT: I didn't even notice you were checking the parameter on the second value :oops: fail...

What I mean't was do I always have to check if the parameter is a zero length string like this? I guess I was confusing the behavior of native autoit functions and udfs.

Because I have an If statement inside the function! I'm checking whether or not $sString_2 is blank or equal to the Default keyword.

Yes, if you want it to use the 'Default' value.

The reason why a blank string won't use the 'Default' value is because a user may want an empty string to be a valid parameter, so using the 'Default' value would be unnecessary in these circumstances.

You are not wrong - at least for as long as I have been using AutoIt. The default parameter in the Function definition is only used if the actual parameter is omitted from the calling line - an empty string could well be a valid parameter and so it is treated as such. :oops:

I saw that, I don't know where I must have gotten the idea that blank strings were set to the default parameter before :oops:

Probably because there are lots of native functions that take empty strings, but they are coded to handle that, it's not about default parameters.
