How to prevent Send and ControlSend commands from activating Caps Lock?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, thanks for reading my question!

I'm using ControlSend, but since I've run into this inconvenience I've also tested it with regular Send and the same thing happens, and right before these commands are sent to the application and during the sending they seem to (simulate to) press the Caps Lock button. The way I've found this out is because I run Ventrilo (VoIP program) with Caps Lock as my push-to-talk button and since I've got a notifier sound set for when the mic opens and closes I hear my autoit scripts do this.

Now I have narrowed it down to the Send and ControlSend commands but how can I stop it from messing with Caps Lock?

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Kind regards,

WiseGuy!

Edit: The scripts themselves aren't really of importance as it even does if the entire script consists of

Send("abc")

I found this in the help file, never noticed it before because I never realized it did this.

SendCapslockMode Specifies if AutoIt should store the state of capslock before a Send function and restore it afterwards.

0 = don't store/restore

1 = store and restore (default)

This is from the AutoItSetOption help section. It might explain how to avoid this.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

How to ask questions the smart way!

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

Thank you for the suggestion, that has indeed solved my problem except for that sending doesn't allow for capital characters anymore but that is easily fixed. Thanks!

Edit: On a second note, apperantly my thoughts of easily fixed were overly optimistic. Apperantly adding a + sign to variable strings doesn't work.
