Alodar
I've been dealing with a lot of csv files that are delimited with commas and semi-colons lately, as well as being encapsulated with quote marks (single and double) sometimes, so I wrote this function to try to read it out to an array that I can deal with (kind of like how excel handles delimited csv's I suppose). However, I really think there's some poor perfomance issues in here in that I need to keep redim'ing the array as I don't know how large it'll be until the end of the file, and that I feel like I'm not handling whether it needs to be encapsulated well or not. If anyone has suggestions or edits, I'd appreciate the knowledge. To give credit where it's due, I originally took this off the _FileReadToArray UDF, then edited it. expandcollapse popupFunc _FileReadToArrayDelim($sFilePath, $Delimiter = ',', $Encapsulator = '"') Local $hFile = FileOpen($sFilePath, $FO_READ) If $hFile = -1 Then Return SetError(1, 0, 0);; unable to open the file ;; Read the file and remove any trailing white spaces Local $bEncapsulate = False Local $bEndline = False Local $x = 0 Local $y = 0 Local $aData Dim $aArray[1][1] While 1 Local $char = FileRead($hFile, 1) If @error = -1 Then ExitLoop Switch $char Case $Encapsulator If $bEncapsulate = False Then $bEncapsulate = True If $bEncapsulate = True Then $bEncapsulate = False $aData &= $char Case @CRLF, @LF, @CR If $bEncapsulate = False Then ReDim $aArray[$x+1][$y+1] $bEndline = True $y += 1 $x = 0 EndIf Case $Delimiter If $bEncapsulate = False Then If $y > 0 And $bEndline = False Then ReDim $aArray[$x+1][$y] Else ReDim $aArray[$x+1][$y+1] EndIf $aArray[$x][$y] = $aData $aData = "" $x += 1 EndIf Case Else $aData &= $char EndSwitch WEnd Return $aArray EndFunc

Alodar
I hadn't, no, as it didn't come up under the keywords I was searching for. I just did however, but got some really odd results for a csv delimited with commas encapsulated by double quotes (items were concatenated heavily). I think I can learn some things from this however; thanks very much.

Alodar
The problem I have with StringSplit and _FileReadLine is that many of the fields I am dealing with have user comments, and thus have commas as well as CRLF's (or LF's or CR's depending on who's entering it), and so can't really trust that to be an actual 'split'. Many of the csv readers I've seen coded out here don't seem to account for that, and I get broken lines or mis-marked columns/fields.
