Creating a file using var, name is used in file

Recommended Posts

Topic title might be confusing, wasn't sure how to word it.

Anyways, I'm having a problem.

$Location = FileOpenDialog("Choose file...", @DesktopDir, "All (*.*)")

And then later I wan't to write to the location I chose the file at.

So for example, lets say I opened the file Chrome from the folder C:/Chrome

$File = $Location & "Info.txt"
FileDelete($File)

Is what I have at first, so I don't have duplicate info each time.

FileWriteLine($File,$String2)

Is what comes later, when I want to write to it.

Now, the writing in the folder works fine and everything, but the name of the .txt isn't Info.txt. It's Chrome.exeInfo.txt

Gah! I can't seem to figure out a way to remove the file name from the location.

Thanks!

FileOpenDialog will look for files, FileSelectFolder will let you look for folders, you're using the wrong function to do what you're looking to do.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
