Setting var1 and var2 to be the same value of var3

Why isn't this valid?

I'd like to say $3 and $2 both equal $1

This code works, but wondering why I can't use the single line variable statement in my first example.

There is no chained assignments in AutoIt.

$s3 = $s2 = $s1 is interpreted from left to right:

the variable $s3 is given the value of

the result of the evaluation of the expression $s2 = $s1

which is a boolean assertion that variables $s2 and $s1 have the same value (up to conversion if needed)

So your "chained statement" is in fact equivalent to:

If $s2 = $s1 Then

$s3 = True

Else

$S3 = False

EndIf
