kor
Local $1 = "test" Local $2 Local $3 $3 = $2 = $1 consolewrite("$1 = " & $1 & @CRLF) consolewrite("$2 = " & $2 & @CRLF) consolewrite("$3 = " & $3 & @CRLF) Why isn't this valid? I'd like to say $3 and $2 both equal $1 Local $1 = "test" Local $2 Local $3 $2 = $1 $3 = $1 consolewrite("$1 = " & $1 & @CRLF) consolewrite("$2 = " & $2 & @CRLF) consolewrite("$3 = " & $3 & @CRLF) This code works, but wondering why I can't use the single line variable statement in my first example. jchd
There is no chained assignments in AutoIt.$s3 = $s2 = $s1 is interpreted from left to right:the variable $s3 is given the value ofthe result of the evaluation of the expression $s2 = $s1which is a boolean assertion that variables $s2 and $s1 have the same value (up to conversion if needed)So your "chained statement" is in fact equivalent to:If $s2 = $s1 Then $s3 = TrueElse $S3 = FalseEndIf This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available).
