ChromaMan
I am writing a very small script to run an executable to update firmware on a networked printer. I have it running fine but would like to capture the Status of the firmware upgrade, did it fail, was it successful, what version is not on the printer. If I look at the Status Window with The Window Info Tool, I see everything I need in the Visible Text Tab. It says for example (Visible Text tab): List1 Epson345 printer firmware updating completed successfully. Module Name: ESS (201202171432) Exit I would love to capture the contents of List1 to a log file and date stamp it and copy to D:\logs file folder which already exists. Any way to do this? Thanks for any help
Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted March 23, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 23, 2012 Hi, GBARR, welcome to the forum. Does the Event Viewer show an exit code for the update under the Application Log? If so, check out the help file under _EventLog_Read to see how you can pull this data. "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. Moderators Melba23 Posted March 23, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 23, 2012 GBARR,Welcome to the AutoIt forum. ControlGetText should do the job - use the info from the Window Info tool to identify the control. Then you can use _NowCalc to get the datestamp (or use the date macros) and FileWrite to get it into a log. BrewManNH
WinGetText ( "title" [, "text"] ) should do what you're looking for. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. ChromaMan
Thanks for getting back so quickly. No, unfortunately there is no entry in the Event Viewer Application log upon completion of the firmware update.
