Error redimming static array

Hi.

Today I thought replacing some global vars with statics in one of my scripts when I noticed that the static keyword was still in experimental stage.

So I started making some tests to see if it was working and had some weird errors.

The documentation says we should use the Static keyword and not Redim to redim arrays. But the code below gives the following error:

    Static $Array[1]
    Static $Array[2][2]
    $Array[1][1] = 3

The example in the help file for the static keyword gives the same error.

Using Redim is not allowed in static vars, but still I managed to be able to redim the array using the Redim keyword by passing the array by reference to another function:

    _Redim($Array,2,2)
    $Array[1][1] = 3
    MsgBox(0,'',$Array[1][1])

        Case $el1 > 0 And $el2 > 0 And $el3 > 0
            ReDim $Array[$el1][$el2][$el3]
        Case $el1 > 0 And $el2 > 0
            ReDim $Array[$el1][$el2]
        Case $el1 > 0
            ReDim $Array[$el1]
    EndSelect
    Return 1
EndFunc

Surprisingly, it worked, but it's a sort of a hack. Does anyone tried something similar before?

Last beta is solid AFAICT and fixes a number of things. I for one uses the beta for production with confidence.

I'm the same as jchd, I use both. Plus looking at the changelog the beta appears to have fixed bugs that are currently in the stable release.

Nope, it's not fixed yet. Not only does the beta generate the same error, but the Open script button in the example scripts in the help file doesn't work either.

So much for static vars in autoit.

In SciTE did you use Beta Run (Alt+F5) ?

Yes! It's working with redim now. In previous versions, the help file said we had to use the static keyword to redim.

Now it's Redim. Thanks again.

I will consult with a Dev on whether or not I should remove that from the Help.

The 3.3.9.2 Help file already states on the Static page:

"If you want to resize an array use ReDim."

What you might want to change is a few lines above:

"Changing the size of a Static array is treated like a ReDim"

I read the stable Help file by mistake, not the beta. Whoops. I'll have a look at your suggestions as I have a couple of questions to ask the Devs.
