computergroove
Dont close the first file or just reopen the file. You could write the data to an array before you close it I think. Then you could write it from memory. BrewManNH
You're trying to write the file handle of the first file into the second file, not its contents. Also, you've closed the file, so $file doesn't point to anything any more anyways. If you're trying to copy the contents of one file into another, use FileCopy instead of doing it the way you are now. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. stormbreaker
You are right.FileWrite($filetwo, $file)will only write the filehandle. To read the contents, use FileRead() func. No need to FileOpen and FileClose. guinness
No need to FileOpen and FileClose.FileRead automatically determines the encoding, but by using FileOpen you can explicitly declare whether or not the file is ANSI, Unicode etc... so sometimes there is a need for using FileOpen. Plus, if you search the forum their is a discussion about the performance increase by passing the hWnd of the file to FileRead, rather than the filepath. BrewManNH
Do you want to merge the first file with another file, or just put it's contents into a new file? If you want to do the second, then use FileCopy, if you want to use the first, use something like this. $Firstfile = "C:somebinaryfile.bin" $SecondFile = "C:someotherbinaryfile.bin" $File1 = FileOpen($FirstFile, 16) ;<<<< Opens file for read in Binary mode $File2 = FileOpen($Secondfile, 17) ; <<<< Opens file for write/append in Binary mode $BinaryData = FileRead($File1) ; <<<< Reads the information from File1 FileWrite($File2, $BinaryData) ; <<<< Writes that information to the end of File2 FileClose($File1) FileClose($File2) I haven't tested this, but this should work if I haven't screwed anything up.
