InetGet ftp url issue

Recommended Posts

Good morning, sorry for my english (i'm italian),

i'm having problems with the following very simple script:

#RequireAdmin
Local $hDownload = InetGet("ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/README", @DesktopDir & "\Mozilla-README.txt", 1, 1)
Do
Sleep(250)
Until InetGetInfo($hDownload, 2) ; Check if the download is complete.
Local $nBytes = InetGetInfo($hDownload, 0)
InetClose($hDownload) ; Close the handle to release resources.
MsgBox(0, "", "Bytes read: " & $nBytes)

runs fine on win7 x64 , doesn't run on xp sp3 in virtual machine

Same problem happens with:

$FileSize = InetGetSize("ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/README")
MsgBox(1,"", $FileSize)
runs on win7 x64 , doesn't run on xp sp3 in virtual machine

If i change protocol

InetGet("http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_active_x_64bit.msi" ..........
e.g. all runs fine even on xp sp3 virtualized...

How can i solve this issue?

Thanks for your attention

maybe try this.

#RequireAdmin
Local $hDownload = InetGet("ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/README", @DesktopDir & "Mozilla-README.txt", 1)
Local $nBytes = InetGetSize("URL", 1) ; returns the size of the file at the URL
MsgBox(0, "", "Bytes read: " & $nBytes)

Note: this script will automatically wait until its down downloading before continuing.

Not 100% sure it will work, but give it a try.

Thanks for the reply but I think I explained myself badly...the single line doesn't work:

InetGet("ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/README", @DesktopDir & "Mozilla-README.txt", 1, 1)
if the protocol is ftp and the os is win xp sp3

there are issues with inetget, inetgetsize, inetinfo when use ftp link and when Os is Xp sp3 (os virtualized on vmware). This problem exists even on win 8 consumer preview (on vm)

No issue when I use win 7 x64.

Is the Win 7 virtualized as well? If not, sounds like you're VM network settings aren't set right.

I would agree with BrewMan's suggestion. The original script works fine in my VMWare environment on XP SP3 as well as Win7.

HTTP and FTP use different ports.
