Is there a way to tell autoit to backspace until it deletes a comma?

Is there a script that can say take a computer name that is on the clipboard and convert it to the IP and then put the IP on the clipboard?

Question 1: Where is the data you want to modify? In a variable, in a text processing program ...?

Question 2: Have a look at function TCPNameToIP

Question 1. It would be a field of a ticketing program where you can type someones name, I don't think there is a ctrl f function in this program otherwise it would be easy .

As far as the IP question, is there a variable you can use in autoit that represents the data you have on your clipboard like (clipboard) and then it would use the data on your clipboard? Also I see you can do a message box and put the name of a computer and it will tell you the IP but is there a way to get it to copy the IP to the clipboard instead of displaying it in a message box?

ClipGet and ClipPut are what you're looking for as far as the clipboard goes.

For the first, look at the help for ControlGetText, StringRight, and StringTrimRight.

Just doing something basic,

TCPStartup()

$bak = ClipGet()

msgbox(0,"IP???",TCPNameToIP("computer name"))

When I put the name of the computer where it says computer name it returns the IP in the message box.

If I do

TCPStartup()

$bak = ClipGet()

msgbox(0,"IP???",TCPNameToIP("$bak"))

Even though I have the computer name on the clipboard it does not work.

I'm still experimenting but am I doing something obviously wrong?

Don't put quotes around variables, that turns the variable into a string that contains "$bak" instead of the contents of $bak.

this is the code.

TCPStartup()

$bak = ClipGet()

$bak1 = TCPNameToIP($bak)

clipput($bak1)

That will convert a computer name on your clipboard to an IP and put the IP on your clipboard.

Hmm, controlgettext is saying it gets text, does that mean it will put the cursor on the particular text or it copies certain text?

It gets the text from the control and returns it to the script.
