Can't close just a popup GUI

I've worked this down to a fairly simple example:

#include <Array.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <ButtonConstants.au3>
#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <GUIListBox.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <GuiListView.au3>
#include <ListviewConstants.au3>

Opt("GUIOnEventMode", 1)
$ASPNet_Users = GUICreate("ASPNet Users", 777, 562, 192, 114)
GUISetOnEvent($GUI_EVENT_CLOSE, "ExitClick")
$Cancel = GUICtrlCreateButton("Exit", 632, 512, 105, 25)
GUICtrlSetOnEvent($Cancel, "ExitClick")
$Add = GUICtrlCreateButton("Add user", 400, 512, 145, 25)
GUICtrlSetOnEvent($Add, "AddClick")
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
Func ExitClick()
  GUIDelete($ASPNet_Users)
  Exit
EndFunc

Func NewUserClose()
  GUIDelete($NewUser)
EndFunc

Func NewUserOKClick()
  GUIDelete($NewUser)
EndFunc

Func AddClick()
  $NewUser = GUICreate("New User", 432, 176, 192, 124)
  GUISetOnEvent($GUI_EVENT_CLOSE, "NewUserClose",$NewUser)
  $Cancel = GUICtrlCreateButton("Cancel", 192, 136, 121, 25)
  GUICtrlSetOnEvent(-1, "NewUserClose")
  GUISetState(@SW_SHOW,$NewUser)
EndFunc

While 1
  Sleep(100)
WEnd

Why do both GUI's close when I click "Cancel" in the popup GUI?

Because it crashes when you try to access the variable $NewUser in another function, because $NewUser is a local variable, that function doesn't know it exists. You'd need to make it a Global variable.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator
