Thanks for all your suggestions and time. Do you recommend I write to someone directly. Since the call works in Excel/VBA it might be a bug in AutoIt?

Unfortunately no one comes to my mind. I hoped that someone would jump in.

As the ActiveX/COM Help and Support (AutoItX) forum is not visited by many people I would suggest to open a thread on the General Help and Support forum describing your problem in short and link to this thread.
