'[class:Notepad]' vs. 'classname=Notepad'

I see both notations in example codes in the help file, for example:

WinGetHandle('[class:Notepad]')

WinGetHandle('classname=Notepad')

an both seem to do the same thing.

Is there any difference?

I only see [CLASS:Notepad] which is generally preferred.

For instance, the example code for _SendMessage() contains a 'classname=Progman'

in the help file of the newest stable version (v3.3.8.1).

OK, I meant classname=Notepad, bare in mind if you do use that option of classname, then you'll have to use

This option is deprecated and only kept for backward compatibility. In new scripts always use the notation with brackets.

Yes, the notation with brackets doesn't need that deprecated option. Thank you for your clarification.

Perhaps the according help file article should be updated.
