Damein Posted May 31, 2012 Share Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) I searched through the forums but I guess I'm not using good enough key words to find this, I'm sure its been posted. I was wondering if there was a way to do a function if the script is being forced to close. IE: All I want to do is show a message box. But I would need this to be done if its forced closed through say, Task Manager or anything. I do know of: OnAutoItExitRegister("_Exit") But like I said, it doesn't show the message box if its forced through Task Manager. Edited May 31, 2012 by Damein Most recent sig. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. The only way to do it would be to use a monitoring script that is run separately from your other script, but that's a lot of work to get it to work right. Mechaflash Posted May 31, 2012 Share Posted May 31, 2012 The safest thing to do is probably perform some kind of cleanup if you had a failed previous run (i.e. process forcefully terminated, computer crash etc.). I do this by setting a reg key toggle at the beginning of the program. Program starts, it toggles on. If program exits in itself, it toggles off. If on the next run it reads that toggle as being on when it should be off, run some stuff to check files/settings/etc to make sure everything will run okay, and perform any necessary maintenance or not run the program at all until it gets fixed manually. abberration Posted May 31, 2012 Share Posted May 31, 2012 I think something could be done, but it would be a little elaborate. 1. Your main program runs and writes to an ini file that the program has not exited (something like exit_correctly=0). Then your main executable starts another program that watches the main program (a continuous loop with "If NOT ProcessExists("main.exe") Then..."). 2. When you exit your main program (properly), have it write exit_correctly=1. If it does not exit correctly, then it won't write the 1. 3. If the second program detects the first one has quit running, then read the ini file. If it exited correctly, then the second program just exits.
