lorenkinzel
Have you ever read a post where some bonehead lost all his sources & only has compiled .exe left? Well, I have joined the ranks (but will not ask un-askable questions) & as I re-write my scripts I will include a button to retrieve the source. Security is not an issue to me. #region ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI **** #AutoIt3Wrapper_Res_requestedExecutionLevel=asInvoker #endregion ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI **** #include <ButtonConstants.au3> #include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> #include <WindowsConstants.au3> $theGUI = GUICreate("", 450, 80, 192, 124) $sourceButton = GUICtrlCreateButton("show source", 375, 20, 68, 57) GUISetState(@SW_SHOW) While 1 $nMsg = GUIGetMsg() Switch $nMsg Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Exit Case $sourceButton install() EndSwitch WEnd Func install() ; this is a literal filepath & must be changed to where your script is located FileInstall("C:\Documents and Settings\Loren\Desktop\show Source.au3", @ScriptDir & "\show Source.au3") EndFunc ;==>install
Skitty
There's also an option in aut2exe to include the script in the resources as well.

guinness
There's also an option in aut2exe to include the script in the resources as well.Wrong, that's part of AutoIt3Wrapper by Jos not Aut2Exe.Look at on how to extract that source code from the resources. BrewManNH
A caveat to that function, not usually a problem for most, but if you obfuscate the script when compiling that directive won't add your script to the resources. If you use obfuscator with the /striponly command it will still work, but not if you try to completely obfuscate the code. Like I said, usually not a problem for most people interested in doing this, because if you're unconcerned about adding the script in plain text to the resources you're usually not concerned with obfuscating the code. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. lorenkinzel
Cool! I will study this.I suppose the security levels are: obfuscated>>>not obfuscated>>>_Res_SaveSource=Y>>>push the 'show source' button. As usual, when I thought I had 'the' answer, it was really a just question in disguise.
