Excel.au3 with .xls (but not Excel)?

Hello,

This may be a stupid question but are the commands in the "Excel.au3" for usage only with the Excel program? I am running OpenOffice which can create and/or open Excel .xls files...however I cannot seem to open a .xls workbook,

#include <Excel.au3>

$oExcel = _ExcelBookOpen("C:\Program Files\Myfolder\Sample.xls")

The error code thrown is "1"...indicating simply "Unable to create the object". The only thing I can figure is that I do not have Excel installed on my system and instead am using OpenOffice. Any verification of this appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, Excel.au3 requires Excel. It uses the Excel COM object. Can't remember any UDF for OpenOffice, but it's not included with AutoIt if there is one. Search Examples forum.

Search the "Example Scripts" forum for "Open office calc" and you will find some UDFs () which might do what you need.
