kor
If Autoit is only able to process a single statement on a single line If Then IE $x = 5 If $x = 5 Then MsgBox(0, "", "true") MsgBox(0, "", "false") why does the following also work? $x = 5 If $x = 5 Then Exit MsgBox(0, "", "true") MsgBox(0, "", "false")
Skitty
eh, wut? That works because the Exit statment can return an exit code if provided, so it will return what the msgbox returned.

I mean, why does this work $x = 5 If $x = 5 Then Exit MsgBox(0, "", "true") MsgBox(0, "", "false") Rather than having to write $x = 5 If $x = 5 Then MsgBox(0, "", "true") Exit EndIf MsgBox(0, "", "false")
BrewManNH
As was explained, the Exit command can return and exitcode, the message box returns and return value, so when you call Exit with the msgbox after it, it processes the MsgBox and when you exit the script the return value from the MsgBox is returned as the ExitCode. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. JohnQSmith
why does the following also work?As explained above, Exit takes the return code from MsgBox. I don't think you noticed that the two sets of code returned two different results. The first one shows a MsgBox with text "true" and then another MsgBox with the text "false", whereas the second only shows a MsgBox of "true" meaning that the Exit is working. Whenever someone says "pls" because it's shorter than "please", I say "no" because it's shorter than "yes".
