Gui Refresh (flicker)

Hi Guys

I have written an app which monitors some of our services. This does basic checks to see if it's running.

If it's up:

GUICtrlSetData($server1, _SetImage($server1, @ScriptDir & "\buttons\up.gif"))

If it's down:

GUICtrlSetData($server1, _SetImage($server1, @ScriptDir & "\buttons\down.gif"))

These are contained in a function which is run every 30 secs.

I think the reason I am getting the flicker is because I am setting an image to "up" even when it's already "up" when what I actually want to do is just leave things alone if the server is still up. The image would only refresh if the status changed. Should I be using booleans or something to get round this?

Cheers

K

Use a variable that you set/reset a variable to see if the data has changed before changing the label/button text.

Global $Sec = 0, $oldsec = 0
GUICreate("Test")
$Label = GUICtrlCreateLabel(StringFormat("%02s", @SEC), 10, 10, 200, 180)
GUICtrlSetBkColor(-1, 0x000000)
GUICtrlSetColor(-1, 0xffffff)
GUICtrlSetFont(-1, 70, 800)
$Label2 = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Test showing flicker", 10, 200, 200)
GUICtrlSetFont(-1, 12, 800)
GUISetState()
Sleep(1000)
While @SEC <> 59
     $Sec = @SEC
     GUICtrlSetData($Label, StringFormat("%02s", $Sec))
wend
Sleep(1000)
GUICtrlSetData($Label2, "Test without flicker")
While @SEC <> 59
     $Sec = @SEC
     If $Sec <> $oldsec Then
          GUICtrlSetData($Label, StringFormat("%02s", $Sec))
          $oldsec = $Sec
     EndIf
WEnd

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
