asdfbbq
All I want to do is make a simple copy of a log file, but for some reason it doesn't work. I'm sure it is a stupid and obvious error, but I can't figure it out so I'm bringing it to the pros. Can anybody tell me why this won't copy? I have tried it four ways: First: #include <file.au3> FileCopy ( "C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLog.txt", "C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLogCOPY.txt" ) No dice. Second: #include <file.au3> FileCopy ( '"C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLog.txt"', '"C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLogCOPY.txt"' ) Still nothing. Third: #include <file.au3> Global $oldfile Global $newfile $oldfile = "C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLog.txt" $newfile = "C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLogCOPY.txt" FileCopy ($oldfile, $newfile) Nope. Fourth: #include <file.au3> Global $oldfile Global $newfile $oldfile = '"' & "C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLog.txt" & '"' $newfile = '"' & "C:\ProgramData\Commvault Systems\Galaxy\LogFiles\GalaxyInstallerLogCOPY.txt" & '"' FileCopy ($oldfile, $newfile) None of them do anything. I'm sure it has to do with the spaces but the helpfile doesn't say anything about how to work with them. I know this is a ridiculous post so I apologize in advance, but I needed help quick. BrewManNH
FileCopy won't work if the pathfilename are in quotes, so that's one reason it didn't work with some of the tries. You shouldn't need it, but have you tried running it as administrator? Also, if you're just using FileCopy, there's no need to include the File.au3 UDF. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. cinnabon
Hi, within the ProgamData Folder you(script) might need Admin Proviliges to work. Does a simple CMD/Batch File work? Greetz Marco

sbrady
you may need to add a ,0 or ,1 after the destination to tell it to overwrite (1) or not overwrite (0)
