single quote vs double quote in parameters??

is there a difference between this:

$result = StringInStr($sHTML, 'style="position:absolute')

and this:

$result = StringInStr($sHTML, "style="position:absolute")

does the single quote make a difference as opposed to the double quotes??

Look at the syntax highlighting in Scite, and even in your post for instance, you can see that everything after style=" is considered to be separate from the string "style=" in the second example. If you need to use double quotes in a string, you have 2 options. 1 is to use single quotes around the whole string, 2 is to double up the quotes inside the string.

EDIT: lol i understand it doesnt work cuz i can see the text coloring. but if i use single quotes, it will understand that i am trying to do a string correct?? (like the first example in OP)

Look below to where I highlighted what I stated previously. Double up INSIDE the string, not the whole string

These days I've switched to using single quotes in my code (looks clean in my opinion) than the standard double and it causes less hassle when having to provide quotes around something e.g. a filepath.

Before:

MsgBox(4096, "", "Some text in a ""MessageBox!""")

After:

MsgBox(4096, '', 'Some text in a "MessageBox!"')

well probably it sound like that to you, to me it sound like encourageing to use search. after all i did not wrote "dont know to use" i wroted "did not use"
