caleb41610 Posted October 11, 2012 Share Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) I'm pretty new to this, but StringToBinary looks like hex codes when returned? After googling, it's the same values as hex would return too. Could someone briefly explain: how to return actual binary ex. 1's 0's what the 0x means infront of the "hex" Edited October 11, 2012 by caleb41610 Multi-Connection TCP Server Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BrewManNH Posted October 11, 2012 Share Posted October 11, 2012 To get a string of 1s and 0s you'd need to convert the information yourself, there's no built-in function to do it, although there are plenty of examples here in the forum. The 0x in front of the number is to indicate that the string is a hex number and should be treated that way, otherwise it's just a string of numbers and/or letters. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. BrewManNH Posted October 11, 2012 Share Posted October 11, 2012 (edited) Here's a conversion routine that I came up with that will display the different formats that the number can be displayed in. It includes a function to convert an integer to a string of 1s and 0s in binary. $Value = 454823 $HexValue = Hex($Value) ConsoleWrite('@@ Debug(' & @ScriptLineNumber & ') : $HexValue = ' & $HexValue & @crlf & '>Error code: ' & @error & @crlf) ;### Debug Console $BinaryValue = Binary($Value) ConsoleWrite('@@ Debug(' & @ScriptLineNumber & ') : $BinaryValue = ' & $BinaryValue & @crlf & '>Error code: ' & @error & @crlf) ;### Debug Console $RealBinaryValue = _BinaryValue($Value) ConsoleWrite('@@ Debug(' & @ScriptLineNumber & ') : $RealBinaryValue = ' & $RealBinaryValue & @CRLF & '>Error code: ' & @error & @CRLF) ;### Debug Console Func _BinaryValue($inValue) Local $OutValue = "", $sOutValue = "" ; find the bits that make up the incoming number While $inValue > 1 $sOutValue &= Int(Mod($inValue, 2)) $inValue = $inValue / 2 WEnd ; reverses the string so it will display correctly For $I = StringLen($sOutValue) To 1 Step -1 $OutValue &= StringMid($sOutValue, $I, 1) Next Return $OutValue EndFunc ;==>_BinaryValue Edited October 11, 2012 by BrewManNH If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise.
