bobh
I use FileOpen($file,2) to open a file for write and use FileWriteLine($filehandle,$line) to write lines to the file. I've discovered that while this process is running and before the file is closed, another task (Windows Explorer) can delete my open file! How is this possible? Is this a bug, am I using it incorrectly, or is there an alternative method to protect my open file from being deleted. Thanks. BobH
guinness
AutoIt doesn't 'lock' the file to the current process for safety reasons, as most forget to use FileClose anyway. My suggestion is look at Lock UDF in my signature. An example has been provided. bobh
Does your UDF lock the file so non-AutoIT processes cannot delete it??
water
Did you have a look at the UDF? The description answers your question: "LockFile allows you to lock a file to the current process. This is useful if you want to interact with a specific file but wish to avoid the accidental deletion by another process or worse still a user."
