Find dropbox installation folder?

Hello. How can I use my script for reading/writing/copying files to the installed dropbox folder instead of a fixed folder (ie. C:\User\Dropbox\File.txt) etc?

I have a feeling its something with appdir, but I can't seem to find the proper method.

The config is encrypted and I don't think there is a registry key, so your best course of action is for the user to select where their Dropbox is located. Because if they change it then they should know where it is located. Right?!

With my situation, the users of the computers thinks double clicking is the equivalent of clicking both the left and the right mouse buttons at the same time. If they manage to mess up the drobox folder I wouldn't ever think they could know where it went.

Anyhow, I see the problem in this case and I think I'll just have to find a workaround for forcing dropbox to the default installation folder. Thanks a bunch!

You shouldn't think so low of the end user. Another approach would be to search the hard drive for a folder named dropbox. Look at Melba23's RecFileListToArray in the Examples.

It wasn't meant as a snotty remark in any way, the typical end user averages about 60 years. I know how they think by now, so I know it will become a matter of headaches if they manage to mess it up. Especially since it's pretty easy to mess up the dropbox installation folder considering it is right there as a tray icon.

RecFileListToArray is genius, so I will be using this method. Thanks a ton!
