MilesAhead
Seems every implementation of SciTE editor relies on SciTEWindow window class name rather than using a more discriminating technique to determine if it's already running. For a long time I stayed with SciTE 1.79 because it avoided conflicts with other SciTE implementations. But succumbing to the desire to check out some of the new innovations I updated to the SciTE4AutoIt3 3.20. I like using it to edit AutoIt scripts. Only trouble is if I have any copy of SciTE running and try to open this one with a command line arg of the au3 file, it opens in the already running copy that's adapted for use with a totally different programming language. If a SciTE is open and I launch this one with no arguments. It just pops up then pops done. All done. Closed. It should at least get the path of the window owner of the already running copy and see if it is him and not running from some other path. If I want to do something in another language that I'd usually do with SciTE while using this implementation, then I have to pop up some editor I'd rather not use for it such as PsPad. Seems it could be fixed with a little more previous instance detection code. Other than that, I like the new one, once I copied a couple of files from the beta the get the double click on error to work again. It has some interesting approaches. Please make it play well with others. My Freeware Page
BrewManNH
If you set your properties files correctly, then you shouldn't be having an issue with one that is already running. Unless you have some funky Lua scripts for the other languages, the settings for AutoIt files are mostly configured to only take effect if there's a file with the .au3 extension being edited. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Moderators Melba23 Posted October 19, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2012 MilesAhead,Add "check.if.already.open=0" to your User Options file - use menu: <Options - Open User Options File> to open it. Then you should get a new instance of SciTE each time you run it. MilesAhead
Thanks Melba. That works pretty well. I tried in both directions and either SciTE seems to be able to pop up without a problem. If I already have an .au3 open in SciTE and want to avoid the additional window I just have to remember to drag & drop the file on or use the menu to open another tab. Thanks again.
