WinMove does not work

this works, but the folder is on the local hard drive

this does not work, the folder is from a server

what do I have to do to move and resize this window

WinMove("\\Apacefeatures1\active_projects_a-d\ FEATURES\","",50,620,400,500)

If the second example doesn't work then I assume AutoIt can't find the window.

What is the return value of WinMove?

What return value do you get from the WinMove function? That will tell us why it does not work in this case (my bet is that it does not find the window).

the bottom part of the scripting window shows this:

WinMove should returned the handle of the window it moved.

The SciTE console return merely means that the code ran without problems - I assume the MsgBox was giving the return value from the WinMove function.

So as suspected, the function does not find the window. Is this the only GUI using the text "Apacefeatures" in the title? If so, then you could try Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 2) to look for partial matches. I recommend that you save the return value from the Opt line to reset the normal value afterwards:

$iCurrentMode = Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 2)
WinMove("Apacefeatures","",50,620,400,500)
Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", $iCurrentMode)

I think I am a genius because it works on the computer I am working on..........an XP machine. My co-worker for whom I am creating this script is on a Windows 7 machine. Could that be the problem. Or

should I use "sleep" for 1 second to give the window time to open up. what does the Opt command do.

As guinness suggested, try using WinWait - much better than a random time interval.

Opt worked but the name of the open folder is " FEATURES", I changed it and it worked, you're a genius, glad to know you.
