How to change a specific set of Properties of a file

Recommended Posts

The file information you are asking about is not part of the standard file information handled internally by the OS or the disk operating system (NTSF, etc). None of the standard Autoit disk/file functions like _FileGEtProperty will work for you.

MP3 files contain a special header section containing all the relevent MP3 data. If you search the Examples forum for "MP3" you'll find a couple UDF's and other examples you might use, or at least learn from.

Pardon me for jumping to conclusions. I notice _FileGetProperty() is not a standard function, but one from the Examples forum, and it does work with MP3's. It appears to be much the same as this thread from 2006 (updated in 2009) where your same question is asked with no positive answer given: http://www.kixtart.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=160880&page=1

As I already stated in the thread for _FileGetProperty, there is no SetProperty method available in Windows. You can change certain properties, like dates and times and file attributes, but if you want to change the tags of an MP3 file, you need to use a UDF designed to write the tags,

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.
