how to : monitor Run button of win32 application

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am a newbie to AutoIt and trying to monitor a win32 application [App_A] developped by a no longer exist company. When user click on Run button of App_A, we plan to add some more file process logic for it.

Is it possible to monitor App_A Run button events? If it's true, then we could add logic when user click on it. Or, we can only check App_A status box periodically to make sure Run button has been pushed...

Any kindly feedback or comment will greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sonic

Sonic94168,

If you have another of determining that the "Run" button has been pressed then I would suggest you go down that route. Trying to hook into the other app would not be easy, even if it were possible to do so which I am not at all sure would be the case.

Have you used the Window Info tool on the app GUI to see if the status box you mention is easily identifiable and so accessible to AutoIt?

One method I believe could work is monitoring for the window to be active

If Primary mouse clicked, find where it was clicked in some fashion.

One fashion could be coordinates relative to window, but I believe you could

determine the exact control the mouse is over using by Yashied.
