I suggest to make a collection of scripts.

That someone took responsibility for adding proven scripts.

Copy the Snippets from the browser delivers the inconvenience. Better to have it all in the form of files in the archive.

Not possible in the help file to show all.

For example in the collection in the "ListView" examples:

context menu.au3
    Edit item.au3
    editing sub-items.au3
    etc

This will help faster learning.

You can do a search for files by name

You can do a search in files by content

Programs
UDF
Examples
    GUI
        ListView
        TreeView
    String
    Registry
    File
etc

In the first line of the script must have the author and link to discussion

I already did, but some of the file names and text in Russian.

How would I add, delete or update a snippet? I just think the Wiki is an easier thing and everyone has access to it as Melba23 said. I'm not a fan of creating multiple accounts, even if it is for a good cause.

The principle is as follows:

Newbies are asking the same questions. You can give a person a collection of examples, to reduce the number of questions.

The name of the script contains its purpose. Structure collection allows you to quickly find desired directory.

I can't see what harm it could do, given someone had the time and inclination to

maintain it. But at the same time I don't think it would stop or even reduce the

same question being asked over and over, here at the forum.

I can see the appeal to this, but I think it may be a little bit overkill. What might be more appealing would be to create an AutoIt basics library which only includes scripts which demonstrate the more fundamental principles of coding in AutoIt. For example the second example is designed to help the learner visualize how zero based enumeration of indices works, whilst you walk through each slice of a 3D array. It is simple if you already understand it, but several examples are often needed to fully cover a topic.

I looked at your examples and got some text files:

I wish I could invest more of my time to such projects but alas I'm a little overwhelmed with stuff of my own right now. How long that will last, I don't know.

I have installed Python half a year ago, there was a collection of demos.

In the end, I would like to have the best examples have been added to AutoIt3, the folder "AutoIt3Examples"

Like I said, I don't see the harm myself, but I'm fairly certain the boss is quite particular about

what goes into the official download of his product.

The only stipulation I have been told is if it's done correctly and will be beneficial to all, not a select few, then go ahead 'guinness' do it if you want.

I would agree with that, personally. When you have it in the forum and/or the Wiki, where it can be easily updated and maintained if needed, why included it with the install?

Maybe a community maintained database online... Yep, that's been tried multiple times.

Has it ever been tried "offically"?

The ones I've seen are an individual setting it all up on his own site.

After a while it dies because it's only another message on the forum and has no "official" standing.

Maybe if it were official and had links from the AutoIt web site it would gain some momentium?
