bgold
I am trying to find window info for an application but when I put the "bulls-eye" on my application. A pop up alert box opens up from my application and won't let me do anything. Is there a way around this? It's like the application is blocking me from getting information. bgold
I can't say, you wouldn't know the application. It just doesn't seem to allow Autoit to gain window information. It brings up an alert box every time I bring my cursor onto it.

bgold
It's not like you'd be able to run my $1500 application and help me fix the problem. I can PM you if you'd like to know more about it. I was just hoping this was a common problem and there were work arounds for applications that block autoit window info. GordonFreeman
I found using this code: $GetApplicationName = ???(?, "?",????) MsgBox(0, "Application Name", "The Application Name is: " & $GetApplicationName) The application is "The Mayan Calendar BETA 1.0". The popup tells the day that the world will end. Hahaha this guy is very funny. Edited December 30, 2012 by GordonFreeman Frabjous Installation

bgold
What does the pop up say? You're not giving us any information with which to form a coherent answer. The pop up says NOTHING. Also why are you so reluctant to share the name? Is breaking the Forum rules? It's not my application. I am pretty sure the company wouldn't like me to start automating it. It's basically a bunch of forms in the program that I want to automate the typing.Basically this is what I am doing. I have no autoit code yet. I have the program open that I want to automate and I have the AutoIt v3 Window Info program open. When I click on the "Finder Tool" and drag the little target over to the program I want to automate, an error pop up window comes up (no txt, just an exclamation point) on the program. Hence, I can't get any information form the program to automate anything. I'm not quite sure what to do from this point.

However, how are you supposed to create a program to click and type in certain areas if everyone's resolution is different so you can do x and y pixel coordinates and you can specifically specify what text box you want to type in? I don't see anywhere in the information that says what I have clicked. It just says that I clicked inside the window.
nitekram
If you are only trying to automate text entries, you can use the Send() command (once you enter the mouse into the first field) to enter the text into the field and then use the Send() command to {tab} to the next field and then enter more info - you will have to test the speed and may have to use a Sleep() command to slow down the process. 2¢ All by me:"Sometimes you have to go back to where you started, to get to where you want to go." nitekram
You could test for the resolution and write your code as such. If 1028 resolution then move mouse to x,y. And continue for each resolution that you may come across. I have done this in the past and it seems to work. I would make sure that you maximized the application and then find the right spot, as if the user has the window moved just a little bit, then the mouse would not hit the right field. A lot of testing, I see in your future. 2¢ All by me:"Sometimes you have to go back to where you started, to get to where you want to go."
