Internet Shortcut icon in listview

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to get the icon from an Internet shortcut (or steam shortcut) to use as the icon in a listview?

normally I would use GuiCtrlSetImage for executables and such, but this method can't seem to get the icon from a .url file (such as if you add the autoit website to favorites, the shortcut has the "A" logo)

This is the contents of the internet explorer shortcut I have for this site.

[DEFAULT]

BASEURL=http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/

[{000214A0-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]

Prop3=19,2

[internetShortcut]

URL=http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/

IDList=

IconFile=http://aut1.autoit-cdn.com/forum/favicon.ico

IconIndex=1

As you can see, it's formatted exactly like an INI file, and the icon file location is stored in the IconFile key in the InternetShortcut section. All your .url files will be formatted the same way.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I see, thanks. I was looking to see if there was an icon name or ID or something stored in the "ini" and checked default and the string of numbers but hadn't looked at the internetshortcut except to get the url :doh:

Time to see how to work this new info into my code :)
