darksupernova Posted January 26, 2013 Share Posted January 26, 2013 Hi Guys, I'm very new at all this but have managed to get two or three scripts running, usually by copying or building on something already out there though! However, now I'm stuck, can you help? I am trying to write a script that will open a remote desktop session and then run a program in that session. Remote desktop is all set up, but every time it runs I need to click 'connect'. Once connected I need a program inside the remote desktop to run. How do I do this? I hope you can help! darksupernova Posted January 26, 2013 Author Share Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) I do not have permission to edit my post :S So anyway - UPDATE: I have found an option in the Remote Desktop Connection Utility that can start a program on connection! Perfect! Now I just need to: 1) Automate the opening and connection of remote desktop - I plan to use the terminate command with a hot key to close it. 2) Send commands from my bluetooth remote over through remote desktop. Both of these have me completely stuck! In reply to Daniel: I am trying to run a game on my powerful desktop but control it using an old laptop plugged into my tv set up. Surprisingly this works! I was able to manually start remote desktop and smoothly play a game using mouse and keyboard without lag - I was very impressed! Now I just need to automate this process so that I can launch one .exe to do the whole lot for me. My old laptop is my media center running xbmc and I dont have access to use the keyboard or mouse. darksupernova Posted January 26, 2013 Author Share Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) I haven't tried it yet as, so far, all the posts I've read say that remote desktop is faster - when playing games, keeping lag to a minimum is a must! Do you know if teamviewer would solve my problem of sending Bluetooth game-pad commands? Also do you know if an autoit script already exists to run and connect to a specified host using teamviewer? Thanks for your quick response! I have found several USB redirect programs for remote desktop connection, lets say for arguments sake that these work for my usb bluetooth dongle to redirect game-pad inputs, how hard would it be to write a script that automates the redirection? danielcovington Posted January 26, 2013 Share Posted January 26, 2013 You can save the rdp connection as a file then call it with autoit run('mstsc "Path to rdp file"') mstsc has a few switches, you can see what they are by typing mstsc -? at a command prompt.
