floyd084
Im trying to compare two strings which contain date information in the format "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss tt" this is the code $pcdate = _Now() ConsoleWrite($tdate & " " & $pcdate & @CRLF) $DateCalc = _DateDiff('s', $tdate, $pcdate) ConsoleWrite($DateCalc & " " & $tdate & " " & $pcdate & @CRLF) I want to use a 12h format but _dateDiff seems to ignore that and assumes 24h, depending on the time i will somethimes get negative values and other times positive. how do i force it to look at the am - pm part? guinness
Search the Forum about converting a time from 24h to 12h. The date functions use 24h because not everywhere in the word use AM/PM. floyd084
$tdate is string value extracted from a text file the string is in format "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss tt" i setup my registry so that _now also returns a string in format "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss tt" here is an exmaple of the consolewrite line : 24816 2013-02-04 01:02:33 AM 2013-02-04 07:56:09 PM 24k seconds is about 6hrs, and 1:02am and 7:56 pm is obviously greater than 6 hrs. Im going to try the format to 24hr, should work buy would prefer to have 12h if possible.
BrewManNH
You can do it in 12 hour format, just not with any of the date/time functions in AutoIt, you'd have to create your own. jchd
Maybe simply because AM/PM format doesn't allow any standard collation, which is one more reason to avoid it at all cost as a computational format. The same remark applies as well to YDM, DMY, ... date formats: they are all UI formats and should never make it in any kind of storage. That's also why we store integral values as 2's complement integers and not strings of digits. This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available).
