The tutorial does not mention CLASS, but the examples in the AutoIt help show CLASS as in: WinActivate("[CLASS:Notepad]", "") How does CLASS work and how do I get more info on this? I have searched the help files and the internet, but I still don't understand how this works. One more question, is there a way to search these forums? Thanks. shaqan Posted February 7, 2013 Share Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) open the Notepad, then run Au3Info.exe (from AutoIT3 installation folder).. drag the reticle over to the Notepad window and watch the data appearing in Au3Info.. Different programs are showing different CLASS, by rule of thumb, usable for you are native windows programs.. by CLASS you can target the "other program's" window (and also controls if need be).. if there are more than one window with the same CLASS you can differ them also by title (for example Untitled - Notepad") or just use the Title itself QT and NET. applications are more difficult to handle since their control data is either by default not visible (QT) or keeps changing from user to user.. for example, do not bother trying to control VLC player or Calibre e-book manager and so forth..both are QT applications.
