harryspier
I'm new to AutoIt and am going through the tutorials. I've gone through the automate notepad example and its clear about opening notepad sending text to it, closing and saving. But what I'm not clear about is how do I go about automating clicking on the toolbar (the line having "file edit format view help" and its submenus. When I hover the finder tool of "AutoIt Window Info" program over the toolbar of notepad containing "file edit format view help" I don't get any information back. Can someone give me a simple example of automating some clicks of this toolbar and also tell me how I get information about the toolbar such as control names etc. Thanks, Harry
somdcomputerguy
This tool - AutoIt Window Info Tool (AU3Info) will give you the information you would need to use functions such as ControlClick, which is much more reliable for 'automating clicks'. - Bruce /*somdcomputerguy */ If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Mat
First off, that is called a Menu bar, a toolbar is used to refer to bars at the top that contain icons. There is a WinMenuSelectItem function provided specifically to do what you ask. AutoIt Project Listing
harryspier
The problem is that when I move the AU3info finder tool over the Menu Bar it doesn't give me any information to identify the controls. Thanks, Harry
